DVSA-accredited site. Reversing and manoeuvre practice. Coupling and uncoupling preparation available.

What helps you settle into Module 3A

Repetition with purpose

We use repeated exercises to build accurate reversing rather than expecting control to appear at once.

Reference points explained clearly

We show how to use observation and reference points to place the vehicle more accurately.

Accredited training and testing

Using one DVSA-accredited site helps keep your practice close to the test standard.

Build control for the off-road manoeuvre test

Module 3A assesses off-road HGV manoeuvring before you move on to the on-road Module 3B driving test. For many learners, this is where nerves show up first because the exercise demands slow control, accurate placement and good observation all at once. We help you work through that pressure by repeating the manoeuvre in a structured way. Training focuses on reversing, reference points, observation, accuracy and how to correct the vehicle position safely if the first approach is not quite right. By practising the sequence properly, you can spend less time guessing where the vehicle is going and more time understanding how to place it with control.

Practise 3A skills at an accredited test site

We deliver both Module 3A training and testing through a DVSA-accredited site, which helps keep your preparation tied closely to the standard being assessed. If you are training for articulated vehicles, we can also cover coupling and uncoupling preparation, including trailer security and the safety checks that go with it. Repeated practical exercises help build the precision the test demands, but they also make the movement feel more familiar, which matters when you are trying to stay calm and accurate on the day.

Frequently asked questions

What is the HGV Module 3A test?

Module 3A is the off-road manoeuvring part of the HGV practical test route. We prepare you for controlled reversing, accurate vehicle placement, observation and, where relevant, coupling and uncoupling tasks linked to articulated vehicle work.

Do we practise coupling and uncoupling as well?

Yes, when your route involves articulated vehicles we can include coupling and uncoupling preparation. We cover trailer security and the safety checks around the process, so you are not only learning the sequence but also why each step matters.

Can we train and test for Module 3A in one place?

Yes. We are a DVSA-accredited site for Module 3A training and testing, which means we can help you practise the manoeuvre in the same kind of setting where the assessed standard is applied.
