Why reach training needs careful coaching
Designed for precision work
We teach alignment, clearance and control so operators can work more accurately around high racking.
Safety at height explained
We focus on visibility, lowering and load condition where warehouse mistakes can escalate quickly.
Funded option for some learners
Eligible Routeway learners may access Reach training as part of added-value funded support.
Build precision for high-racking work
Reach trucks are designed for precise pallet handling and high-level racking, so small errors in alignment or visibility can quickly become costly. We provide training that helps operators understand how the truck behaves in narrower warehouse spaces and at height before expecting fast, accurate work. That includes pre-use inspections, reach and retract controls, steering characteristics, stability and checking load weight against truck capacity. If you are new to this truck type or moving across from another machine, we break each skill into manageable parts so you can concentrate on control and placement rather than trying to learn everything at once.

Practise safe placement, travel and lowering
Practical training covers aisle positioning, fork alignment, stacking, de-stacking and keeping safe clearance from racking. We also work on visibility at height, controlled travel, safe lowering and the risks created by damaged pallets or uneven loads, because these are the details that often unsettle operators at first. For eligible learners on the funded Logistics Routeway, Reach training may also be available as part of the added-value support package. That can make it easier to build warehouse capability alongside wider logistics training without losing sight of safe operating standards.
Frequently asked questions
What does reach truck training usually cover?
We cover pre-use checks, reach and retract controls, steering, stability, load capacity, aisle positioning, fork alignment, stacking, de-stacking and safe lowering. We also look closely at visibility at height and safe clearance from warehouse racking.
Can experienced operators convert to a reach truck?
Yes. If you already have experience on another truck type, we can look at whether a conversion route is appropriate. That helps focus the training on the differences in controls, steering, visibility and handling rather than starting from the very beginning.
Is funded support available for Reach training?
For eligible learners on the funded Logistics Routeway, Reach training may be available as part of the added-value support package. We can talk through the wider route and help you understand what options may apply to your situation.
